About the Internship
The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) has been regularly organizing Winter Internship Program in order to spread Human Rights literacy among various sections of the society and promote awareness of the safeguards available for the protection of the Human Rights as per section 12(h) of the Protection of the Human Rights Act, 1993.
Duration of the Programme
‘Winter Internship Programme (WIP) – 2025’ is to be commenced from 15th December, 2025 (Monday) and concluded on 09th January, 2026 (Friday).
Eligibility
Students of the 2nd & 3rd year pursuing 3 years LL.B. Course – (while applying). Students who have completed 3rd and 4th years of the 3+2 (5) years, LL.B. programme are eligible to apply (while applying). Attested photocopies (by Head of Department only) of mark-sheets for First two semester (for 3 year LLB course) and 5th & 6th semester (for 5 year LLB course) are to be submitted failing which the application will be liable to be rejected. A 300-500 words write-up on the topic “Reason for joining as Intern in MSHRC” will be required to be submitted by the applicants along with application which will also serve as a basis of selection. Students who have research potential in the areas relating to human rights will be preferred (As indicated by them write-up). The merit will be made on the basis of average percentage of three preceding semesters and the Marks scored in the Write-up of 500 words @40 Marks.
Students who have attended the regular one-month Winter Internship Programmes organized by MSHRC earlier will not be eligible to apply. No of Seats Maximum 30 students will be admitted for WIP – 2025. In addition 5 students from Mumbai region will be kept in the wait list. In the event that an intern drops out of the internship, those who have been put in the wait list may be called to join the internship programme not later than the second day of the WIP-2025.
Brief structure and scheme of the programme Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of MSHRC. Classroom sessions on different topics relating to the Human Rights, Research methodology, mental health, report writing etc. Attend and assist the court hearing work and legal wing of the commission. Project work on Human Rights issues. Book Review from MSHRC Library. Visit to Jail, Ashram Shala, Children Home, NGO’s and Police Stations.
Rules and regulations governing internship programme
The interns have to get their registration done on the date of arrival. They will have to attend the programme regularly without break. Their daily attendance will be marked in a register/ attendance sheet. It is mandatory for the interns to carry their Photo Identity Card issued by the college. The interns shall attend the programme in uniform in Black Trouser and Black Shirt or as prescribed by their respective colleges. On completion of the Internship, certificates will be issued on the basis of performance on the following criteria:

Facilities to interns
The interns will be given a bag containing MSHRC reading material, notebook, pen, pencil etc. Library facilities will be provided. Internet facilities in a group will be provided. Printing of Project Reports, etc., will be made available. Tea and High Tea will be provided to the interns on all working days in Commission excluding days of field visit.
All selected interns to successfully complete the internship will be paid Stipend Rs.2500/-.
A Certificate of participation will be awarded to the interns on completion of internship.
Travelling and accommodation facility Interns will have to make their own arrangements for living accommodation, food and local transport to and from the Commission for the duration of WIP-2025.
Deadline
The last date for the submission of the application is 30th November, 2025 till 5.00 p.m.

The students may also submit their application form along with documents and undertaking in PDF/JPEG form on following emails :- complaint-mshrc@mah.gov.in and registrar-mshrc@mah.gov.in The application for WIP-2025 is duly forwarded through the Head of the Department of the concern college. Applications submitted otherwise will not be accepted. Incomplete applications / applications without attested copies, mark-sheets is liable to be rejected. No application will be accepted after the deadline. The Final List of Selected Interns will be published on official website on 5th December 2025.
